Augmented Reality Use in Retail Grocery Shopping
Project Description
The project was part of the inaugural Deloitte “Disruption by Design” hackathon, which uses a structured approach to innovation that harnesses the full power of digital breakthroughs and advanced data analytics. The project was to improve retail grocery consumers’ shopping experience by integrating augmented reality, nutrition data aggregation, and digital mobile experiences.
My Role
Product Manager who envisioned the end-to-end user experience and product design
My Activities
Led a team of 5 consultants during the 4 weeks of the hackathon, collecting user feedback and synthesized research insights to drive product hypothesis
Created the product prototype design and an interaction roadmap alongside with engineers
Tested the initial prototype and usability, prioritized feature enhancements and conducted rigorous testing on application integration
Presented and demonstrated the final product to national partners at Deloitte in the final round
Impacts
Designed a mobile application that leverages augmented reality to demonstrate product nutrition information and recipe recommendations during customers’ in-store visits
Awarded with the “Best User-Centered Design” in the company-wide competition
